The Nokia N900 can:

OS is Debian-based, it has more than one GUI package managers to easy install apps and you can also use the Terminal to maintain the system.

Can act as a phone and Skype is integrated.

Tons of open source and free apps/games. Ability to install apps and codecs to play formats other than Apple's propiretary formats.

Many different files manager to choose from, not to mention (g)rsync and other backup tools.

Multitasking.

Webbrowser is Firefox based, support extensions and Adobe Flash content. Can install other third party browsers like Fennec, Opera Mobile.

MicroSD slot for additional memory.

FM radio tuner and output FM signal.

Physical keyboard.

Ability to tether/act as wifi hotspot.

Take decent quality photo and videos with its Carl Zeiss lens. With third party apps can take raw photos.

Customized skins for the desktop interface.

Though available for the iPad, the N900 also has GPS/maps.

Removable battery.

Plug & play capability. Standard universal micro-USB jack, not some weird proprietary one.

Not have to bow down to Apple's totalitarian rules or have your apps/data deleted without notice.

Bittorrent apps are allowed. http://www.neowin.net/news/apple-removes-bittorrent-apps-fro...

Only thing missing is USB host ability, but I think it will come with the N900 successor. Though the N900 ha slower cpu, you can overclock it.
