Ubuntu gets new wallpaper... usually people say that to make fun of Ubuntu :) |

They got rid of the red splotches. It's either really sad that that is actually worthy of a news story or testament to Ubuntu being so good there's nothing extraordinary that can be said, or that it's been trumpeted far and wide that there are no more superlatives left. |

I don't think this is worthy of a news story. The fact that it is treated as news is a tribute to Canonical marketing and their ability to have so captured Linux community mindshare that any and every little thing they do is covered as news no matter how trivial. |

Thank you, caitlyn. I had the same thought, but I kept using too many words to express it. |

Heretics. |

This is probably what it's like to live in North Korea. All the news articles are "Glorious leader went to the grocery store" or "Glorious leader decided to change the direction of his bed". |
ComputerBob Sep 16, 2010 1:41 PM EDT |
Don't forget to subscribe to Glorious Leader's tweets - it's the law. |
tuxchick Sep 16, 2010 2:10 PM EDT |
And be thankful they are tweets and not squirts. |

Quoting:HereticsAs a member of a religious minority I resemble that remark :) I wouldn't compare Ubuntu to North Korea. We aren't compelled to use Ubuntu... yet. |

Microsoft is way more analogous to an insane, narcissistic dictatorship than Ubuntu. |

tuxchick: You forgot paranoid and heavy handed. |

Caitlyn, I don't want to hog all the fun adjectives. Like bullying, ruthless, amoral. |

In 2020, people will ask you: "Where were you during this gigantic unbelievable magic event in 2010 which would shape the next decade, provide direction to the entire financial market, solve the financial crisis and lead to world peace - when Linux changed it's wallpaper in September?" And I'll have to admit I missed the greatest event of the decade because I had to visit the hospital. |

Hans, when did Ubuntu become synonymous with Linux? I thought Canonical had removed all the references to Linux on the main Ubuntu web page anyway. When will other Linux distros be banned? |

Quoting:Hans, when did Ubuntu become synonymous with Linux?Glorious Leader declared it so, in one of his tweets. |

Ah darn, got me Caitlyn! I missed the greatest event of 2009 as well (must have been on the closet then?), when Linux was replaced by Ubuntu. Probably after research by Mark Shuttleworth showed the sound of the word "Ubuntu" gave people a more pleasent fealing then the word "Linux", and therefore they decided it was more user friendly. |

I mean Ubuntu in the future. http://www.userfriendly.org/ YBT |
