Running Puppy 5.x, aka Lucid Puppy, isn't as easy as running Ubuntu itself.

Puppy has a lot of its own configuration utilities, which are quite a bit different.

On my new Lenovo G555, I had to "trick" the X configuration utility into getting my resolution correct, and I've had trouble going between wired and wireless networking (although it is doable it's not as seamless as with NetworkManager).

The main reason I wanted to run Lucid Puppy, which I'm now mostly running on my 2002-era Toshiba Satellite 1100-S101, is to have a Linux environment with all the Ubuntu packages that I could run from live CD on a Linux partition on this single-boot OpenBSD 4.7 install.

This way if I need Flash or anything I can't seem to get working in OpenBSD, I can use the live CD to boot into Lucid Puppy.

I've had a few problems with dependencies when adding apps from the Ubuntu repos, but I can usually figure out what I'm missing by starting the app in question from a terminal and looking at the output for what I need to add, then searching the Ubuntu package list for exactly which package contains the missing library or dependency.

One thing Lucid Puppy offers: A whole lot of speed.
