To use IBM's reasoning in the recent anti-trust action against them:

Codeplex.org supports this initiative.

Microsoft has a representative on the governing board of Codeplex. (http://www.codeplex.org/About2/FAQ/Mission.aspx )

Microsoft's involvement must be even deeper since their site is obviously built on ASP.Net ...

It follows then, with Microsoft's history of attacking the GPL by proxy, that this must be some sort of sneak attack on FLOSS.

====== Of course now that I've pointed all this out, I'm sure that Sander and Tracyanne will be sure to post about how having MS involved is the greatest thing since sliced bread, since I have no idea of what I'm talking about and don't have a clue about application development in the enterprise.

I suspect a negative reaction to a case of Mono, myself. :)

dj,

Just busily and quietly working for MS behind the scenes*, silly.

* My board membership will arrive any day now ... However, on reflection - just because Darren is paranoid does not mean he is wrong. While I do not understand his attacks on either ta or sander when MS is involved it is time for caution.

What attacks?

I was just referring to the previous exchanges where TA was kind enough to point out that she was now convinced that MySQL is a great simply because it was me saying mean things about it (with supporting evidence) and Sander was kind enough to call me incompetent.

And since I'm the one saying that MS being involved (even if only by proxy) is not a good thing, I figured they would be the ones to take an opposing view just because it is me saying it.

Darren, not everyone who disagrees with you is doing so because they dislike you personally, and not everyone who says a comment is stupid is making an ad hominem attack.

TA is fairly consistent in her positions, regardless of who she's disagreeing with. That doesn't necessarily make her right, of course.

It doesn't necessarily make me right either, TA. I've been known to be wrong on occasion. :)

I read your "supporting Evidence", and decided it didn't support the outrageous claims you were making.

Quoting:and Sander was kind enough to call me incompetent.

Based on my knowledge of Sander's skill and knowledge, and the fact that your arguments in support of the claims you made were pretty weak, I'd say that was a reasonable assessment on Sander's part. But as I pointed out in that MySQL thread, I don't know you.

Now if you wish to take that personally, there really is nothing I can do about it. But remember this, it's you that has to live with the assumption that I or anyone else has a personal dislike of you.

My advice, get a life.

Yup, I did the same. I thought the article on WikiVS didn't make MySQL look bad at all. The opposite in fact.
