Two things: 1. What's the distribution of numbers on each of these benchmarks? Without knowing that, and a standard deviation or something, you can't tell if the differences have any signifigance. Looks like Ubuntu scores better than Windows 7, but my guess is the difference is not signifigant. 2. Wow, an X11- based graphics beats Windows graphics?!? That's the one place where Windows has always had a performance advantage. Hardware folks write special drivers, Windows NT moved the graphics stuff into the kernel a while back, and Windows isn't really-o truly-o network transparent. When did X11 get so good? Or possibly, when did Windows get so sloppy, bloated and slow? |

Quoting:Or possibly, when did Windows get so sloppy, bloated and slow? My guess is with the new graphics subsystem in Vista, the Windows Display Driver Model. |
