...now with 10% fewer security vulnerabilities! At just $499 MSRP, Clippy says you better act now! Let's see if I can locate Microsoft's PPA so I can test drive this shiny new turd. |

There is absolutely no likelihood I would ever purchase Microsoft software to do what OpenOffice can do. Even with the "added frills" in the latest version of Office 2010, there is nothing in those frills that I cannot do with other Linux software. And lastly, there is absolutely no way I will ever, ever, EVER contribute to Microsoft profit gouging. On the other hand, this article probably wasn't meant to be a joke; Volefans are all too serious about their Redmond software and their Microsoft indoctrination makes them oblivious to the fact that an unlimited universe exists outside their rather spartan and virus-decayed prison cells. Generally speaking an article like this means that the writer gets rave replies from the great brainwashed multitudes of Windows users who then tell each other how great this new software garbage is and what it will do for them and of course, there will be the cheer leaders who will tell them how wonderful the garbage recycling unit at Redmond is. Generally speaking, each new Microsoft release is a "fix" to tide the addicts over to the next wonderful release from the Redmond Fortress ~ which naturally, never lives up to expectations......But Redmond collects their money of course......I seem to be cynical this happy evening.....tsk, tsk. :-D |

You can download a trial version from http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/try/try-office-2010-FX1018... Codeweavers might be interested in any bug reports wrt the latest version of Crossover. You can request a trial version of Crossover at http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxlinux/download_trial/ |

The forum posts on the article's site seem to agree that Office 2010 is a waste of money: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?245115-Reasons-to... |

I consider the free trial a waste of money. |

But it wouldn't be a waste of money for Redmond. Once you save your files in the new Office 2010 format, then the "free" trial expires, you have to buy the full product in order to read them. |
