how is this useful for
linux or free software projects, which often don't have an organization that manages promotions or other related events where brand ambassadors would be helpful? anyone active in a community is either considered a member already or can become a member. debian, ubuntu, foresight and others already have a model like that. sure, many projects could learn to recognize contributors other than developers, but that's just one issue. what is missing in the article is more suggestions on what such ambassadors could actually do, and how a free software project can recognize ambassadors beyond listing them as members of their community. most communities do not have the kind of financial backing that would allow them to support ambassadors with presents and some communities would even frown at such a practice because it could hardly be fair to all contributors. tracy, which insight is it specifically that you gained from this article, that you didn't have before? greetings, eMBee. |
