Cool,... But too late... I've already got most of this on my home system. Plus, what I've done looks a little better, using Cairo-dock, and tweaking some Totem settings. This reminds me a bit of LinuxMCE. I'm very interested in their getting HDMI sound out and seeing what else I can canabalize from this to get working on MY system though... I even use the Brando (actually EFO, btw) touchpad/keyboards as remotes, that they are tending to feature. You can get them for about $45 each, $65 or so for the bluetooth version. Cheap build quality, but otherwise perfect for HTPC use. The bluetooth variety are nicer for the included scroll bar portion on the side of the touchpad. The regular RF variety lack a hardware based side scroll (I haven't dived into trying to enable it in the synaptics drivers). They don't say anything about MythTV fuctionality, really... But this is an interesting starting point for someone just starting out with a Linux HTPC network. Searching further on the site, you see their hardware store,... I like that Zotac HD-ND01 Mini PC, Intel Atom & nVidia in a small unit... So it seems that they are a multi-media PC vender outfit that is also giving back to the Linux Community. Nice to see. Couple this with a Micasaverde Vera, and you would have a nice, out of box Linux-based home automation/home media system. If this had been around when I started building my system, I might have used this instead of doing it all myself. |
