Steve Jobs has also called (..) it [Flash] "closed and proprietary." Rolling on the floor laughing! And all Apple produces is "open and public"???

Closed and proprietary is problematic only if it's someone else's software.

Likewise "riddled with security holes".

Apple software is completely open, you know, as open as they want it to be so if you try to actually improve it or make some nifty new functionality they can lock you out until they get an "official" semi-functional, almost broken entirely API in place for you to use.

Let's just say that Microsoft is a whole lot better at porting Windows apps to Mac OS X than Apple is at porting OS X apps to Windows (where they are stinky hogs) or Linux (where they ... don't exist).

To add to the irony: http://rixstep.com/1/20100424,00.shtml

Quoting: Developers planning on marketing software for 10.7 will submit their products to the App Store as iPhone and now iPad developers have already done. 10.7 will have kernel support for ('insistence on') binaries signed with Apple's root certificate.

No software will be able to run on Mac OS X 10.7 without being approved and signed by Apple, Inc.

As the saying goes, "If you're dumb enough to go along with it..."

This is your computer, you paid for it... however for your protection we're going to tell you what you can run, who can make software for your computer and at what point you need to buy a new computer because we'll inevitably decide to stop developing for your system in a few years.

Oh by the way, here's an iPod and iPad... yes, they're limited the same way... no you don't have a choice... what do you mean you're going back to a PC? We're Apple, Incorporated, we're hip and cool... don't you want to be cool like us? Look Steve Jobs wears turtle necks and jeans in the summer! That's how cool we are!

That's good to know.

Not that it changes most of our opinions of Apple much, just that they haven't gone TOTALLY insane....yet.... :P
