Folks who want porn can buy and [sic] Android phone.“ In other words iPhone will fail. Sex sells. On a more serious note. I did buy an Android phone, not because of the availability of pornography, but the lack of an overbearing vendor. |

I'm going to my cell salesperson today, to inquire specifically about Android. |

Ha. Who needs to burn petrol when one can simply use SMS? No Android yet, but one in testing. I volunteered to be a tester ;-) but no dice. It's supposed to come out in two months. |

> No Android yet... When combined data/cellular plans drop under $30/month and they give the phone away with the plan, I'll think about it. Until then, I can live without one. I don't even have a personal cell phone, only a work one. |

Do you have a land line? |

What would you be willing to pay per Mb/s? You may find a cell phone to be a better deal. My parents' cable internet costs $5 less than my cell phone internet, but I get about 40% better download speed. $44.95/mo for 768kbps max, versus $49.95 for 1Mbps average, 1.5Mbps max. Another benefit is mobility, but that doesn't matter to my parents. |

768k DSL? Wow, that is slow by today's standards... FWIW, I upgraded from DSL to UVerse a while back... spoiled with 12 megabit Internet now... |

It's cable, not DSL. They went with it for two reasons: 1. They already had the cable line. 2. They live on the edge of the phone exchange, about 10 miles from the CLEC, so the dial-up speed was 26400 on a good day, 21000 or worse usually, and DSL is totally unavailable for them. Too many repeaters in the line. |

> What would you be willing to pay per Mb/s? 1.5 Mbps is $40, and that's more than Verizon charges for their 3 Mbps service, which we could (in theory) also get. I just don't like doing business with Verizon. |

I'm paying $AU130 per month for 20 Gbit DSL with 150 GByte Download (no shaping), upload speed is 800 Kbit |
