It has a Parallel port?!?! & 2 (2!!!) RS-232 ports!?!? I don't know whether that is retro-cool aimed at network admins that want a large touchscreen portable to interface to aging server room equipment or whether it is an attempt to go after the 55-75 year old market who still use parallel port dot matrix printers they purchased 35 years ago... Are there any MODERN devices that still connect via a parallel or an RS-232 port?!?!?

My guess this is a device aimed squarely at IT people who have to work with (old & expensive) industrial equipment with aging interfaces. It's too big to be web tablet. It's just the right size to sit on a table next to a milling machine or assembly line robot with old serial and parallel port interfaces.

I have a sweet HP LaserJet 5P with a parallel port. I can load it up with a new toner cartridge for $30.

I still use a printer with a parallel port. I think a device would probably be useless for a large percentage of users without one.

There are probably still quite a few UPSs out there using serial as well. I would assume some new ones still use serial instead of/in addition to USB.

Hey --- I think it's really cool that a computer can connect to a parallel universe.

I don't know if they are still around, but the kernel used to support some stuff for networking over parallel ports, so I'm hoping to one day communicate with the parallel me in whichever universe I am successful and respected.

I'd love to ask me for a loan.

I already tried that. The parallel me knows I'm not a good credit risk. :(

Oh crap!

I'd need to find a parallel universe where you can be successful, respect AND stupid without going into politics or show business.
