I always like how the Linux rescue tools for Windows are way better than the Windows tools.

Yeah.

A few weeks ago my brother's computer developed a problem on its NTFS partition. Upon boot, it would start chkdsk and go into an infinite loop trying to do something with one inode. This was not a system partition, so canceling the check allowed Windows to start, but the partition was totally inaccessible. So my family members forced me to fix it. I took the drive out, attached it to my computer, installed ntfs-3g and attempted to mount it, expecting a long session in fsck or the like.

I was disappointed.

It mounted the partition without complaining. With all the data intact.
