A weird article from ZDNet - one that calls Microsoft what it is: a bully, a monopolist, and an anti-progress albatross around society's neck.

Of course, the usual shills appear to be making a lot of comments in the talkback to blunt the thrust of the article.

As the 43rd U.S. President George W. Bush was attributed to have said:
Quoting:You can fool some of the people all the time, and those are the ones you want to concentrate on.
(from http://thinkexist.com/quotation/you-can-fool-some-of-the-peo... )

G.W. Bush's quote itself seems to be an obvious variant of the famous one attributed to 16th U.S. President Abraham Lincoln:
Quoting:You may fool all the people some of the time, you can even fool some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the time.
(from http://thinkexist.com/quotation/you_may_fool_all_the_people_... )

Microsoft certainly seems to be spending an inordinate amount of effort to concentrate upon fooling as many people as it possibly can. Among other fine pieces on this subject, also see the Microsoft Enterprise Search Blog "spin" piece by Olstad entitled 'Innovation on Linux and UNIX', and linked to at LXer via http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/131650 Quite a spin job this is!
