Anybody notice how he's basically describing a linux or bsd system? |

I didn't read the article, but the line "...when Windows is done right, it can be a cracking OS." caught my eye. I wonder if the choice of words was deliberate. |

It's interesting he seems to damn Windows with faint praise. As chalbersma said his wish list, with the xecption of Anti Virus seems a complete steal from Linux. |

If the author of this article has read the EULA for Win7 and still use it in complete comfort, then I don't believe there is much that can be done for him. I don't care how good an operating system is. When the license agreement dictates the use of the machine at any level, then it is not the user's machine any more. That's sad... h |

@helios: I suspect much of the EULA is unenforceable. I also suspect most users and businesses never read it and cheerfully ignore it. If it ever were enforced they'd be horrified, |

> I suspect much of the EULA is unenforceable Why? If MS chooses to enforce the EULA, especially on businesses, it should be enforceable. I doubt that saying "we didn't pay attention" would be a legitimate defense. |

Quoting:Combined antivirus/antispyware/firewall He's still a Windows user to the core if he thinks anti virus is done in the application software layer. Done right AV is handled in the system kernel and you don't see something like a million virus varities created. |
