I'm a little surprised at the numbers for VIA

I've run into a lot of people using VIA Chrome video on desktops and, of course, on netbooks. I'm surprised their numbers are so puny. I thought VIA had made more inroads into the video chipset marketplace, I guess I was wrong. |

Low end market in Asia - the people who don't submit to Phoronix I guess? Should ask VIA. However, last time I mailed them it took them over two months to answer. Because I mailed as a 'potential VIA customer' I have my ideas why they don't have more customers. |

@Hans: Sorry to hear of your experience. I don't think VIA is limited to Asia. HP, Everex, Cendyne and Sylvania all had netbooks with the VIA Chrome graphics chipset which were sold (or are still being sold) here in the US. I know a couple of the Vector Linux developers have them in desktop systems as well. Most of the VL developers are in North and South America. I actually had very good luck with the OpenChrome drivers when I was running Vector Linux on the Sylvania netbook I had. Ubuntu with the then closed, now open, drivers from VIA's website. Unlike the current Intel 945GME chipset in the current HP laptop, I could actually make the Compiz-Fusion cube work on a netbook with the VIA chipset. Maybe VIA's customer service is lacking. Their product seemed pretty good to me. |

SiS is still on the chart. Needs to be lower. |
