Nobody familiar with Lenovo's Linux history is going to go all coocoo for Cocoa Puffs over this announcement, we've been there before. Wait and see what really happens, what "Linux-based" really means, will it actually be marketed in a way that doesn't require the skills of a great detective to find it, and will it actually work and be useful. An awful lot of hurdles to overcome that don't trouble ordinary Linux users, but sure do trip up those bigtime titans of the tech industry. |

I agree. Lenovo has never seriously supported Linux and has acted like Linux is nothing more than a bother. If that changes, great. When it comes to Lenovo and Linux I might as well be from Missouri: show me. I'm a skeptic. |

On the other hand, they do make a very nice laptop which is usually a breeze to install linux on: the thinkpad. No doubt the history of this with IBM and the geek crowd who flock to it helps but still they are reasonably priced, very durable and highly linux compatible so credit where credit is due. Why they don't sell thinkpads with a significant linux option is strange since I am certain there is a market for that. |
