Which relates to the previous name, how? |
caitlyn Nov 12, 2009 11:04 AM EDT |
Since Fedora 13 isn't named yet it would be hard to answer that question, Sander. Constantine was a Roman emperor which opens up all sorts of unlikely possibilities... like Caligula, for example. It's a township in Michigan. Lots of interesting town names in the US, like Intercourse, PA or Blue Ball, PA etc... I'm sure I can come up with lots of other useless suggestions. |

"Blue Ball" could also fit the overall Fedora color scheme well. |

I like it. Have you submitted it yet, Dino? |
dinotrac Nov 12, 2009 11:22 AM EDT |
No. Waiting for 12 more submissions. |

Another great PA township name would work: Bird In Hand, PA One that probably wouldn't get much support: Lizard Lick, NC |

'Sphaera Cerule' That ties blue ball to Latin, the language of Roman Emporers like Constantine. Constantine is a County in the US and Blue Ball is a city in the US. We live on a large Blue Ball in space, and like the Roman Emporers one of the goals of Linux is World Domination. I think Dino has a perfect choice. |

Balaclava. |

My favorite desert. mmmmm |
caitlyn Nov 12, 2009 2:09 PM EDT |
I think you mean baclava. As a Microsoft commercial once said: "Everyone loves baclava!" I know I do. |
Sander_Marechal Nov 12, 2009 3:58 PM EDT |
Quoting:Lizard LickThat sounds like a contender for Ubuntu 10.04 :-) |
tuxchick Nov 12, 2009 4:04 PM EDT |
A balaclava is like a hat, and it has a hole to permit the eating of baclava. Therefore it is perfect as a Fedora release name. Lizard Lick seems more suited to openSUSE. |

I propose "Obtuse Orangutan" for Ubuntu 11.10. |
caitlyn Nov 12, 2009 5:17 PM EDT |
Ubuntu 10.04 is Lucid Lynx. I wanted either Leaping Lizard or Leaping Lemming or maybe Lascivious Llama. My choice for 10.10 is Maniacal Monkey. |

I added Crystal Lake. |

Since the previous linkage is that they're both cities in Michigan, and since Constantine was a Roman emperor, I propose Fedora 13's name also be a Roman emperor, and I propose "Commodus" as that name. Some others are "Domitian" and "Lucius". "Tiberius" would also be a good choice. |

In that case, I propose Caesar. Just so we can name the next one Asterix (from the comic :-) |
hkwint Nov 13, 2009 12:15 PM EDT |
I'd vote for calling it Fedora 13, Redmond, after the village in Washington. Fedora 14 would be kinda obvious, we could call it Cupertino or maybe Walldorf; or even better: Raleigh. |
Sander_Marechal Nov 13, 2009 12:58 PM EDT |
Good one Hand. And when Fedora 14 is called Walldorf we can name Fedora 15 Statler |
caitlyn Nov 13, 2009 1:46 PM EDT |
You could also go from Caesar to Waldorf, as both are types of salads :) |

A few additional possibilities: Blowing Rock Nags Head (both towns in North Carolina) North Pole (town in New York or Alaska) Chicken (town in Alaska) |

Reading the wiki, most seem to have missed this morsel: "The link between Leonidas and Constantine was "both are townships in St. Joseph County, Michigan, USA." The link between Constantine and the new name must be different than that link, and different from any other previous link." So the name relationship -- towns -- do not apply this time around. However, what I'm lobbying for is Monterey, since Constantine is a bay and so is Monterey (and also it's the bay near where I live). |

Hellblazer? |

Quoting:Hellblazer?Inappropriate, it usually gets better after the first month. YBT |
