The article only makes half sense. Google *is* a phone company and by some lays they already are required to act as one. And I am glad they are required to do so. For example, Google is required (in the US) to route 911 calls with high priority at any time (even if the bills have not been payed). I see no reason why Google should not adhere to the other parts of telecommunication laws. |
