IBM wants to sell Servers |

IBM has never understood how to market to or relate to consumers. It's why they sold their PC division. It's why OS/2 failed. Anyone remember the TV commercials with the Czech nuns? Gee... wonder how many people they connected with. They also drove the Lotus desktop products into the ground. If there is any company which is utterly unqualified to give advice about the desktop or consumers it's IBM. |

The way forward to the desktop is already clear. Get Linux into people's hands on netbooks, smart phones, MID's, whatever. If the price of the device is low enough, Microsoft can't compete. Once established, march upmarket. |

it's amazing the difference a bit of reporting does. http://www.internetnews.com/dev-news/article.php/3840176/The... to one's perception of what was said.. |

Umm...Linux has already accomplished its goal. It provides a free alternative to Windows and Mac that is suitable for the masses. |

I tend to agree with what he said but the fact I get more and more people asking to be switched to linux everyday. they are sick windows and all the costs involved and just want to get on with their browsing, email, and you tube watching. they don't want to have to defrag, virus/spware scan, and reboot every time they get an update. so who knows I think windows is built on a house of cards and linux will still be there when it comes tumbling down. |
