If they'd get the alsa driver issues in the Aspire laptops fixed...what a freakin' nightmare. Nothing short of downloading the latest and greatest from the Alsa Project and compiling it, THEN hacking the modprobe.conf file to accommodate it. Holy cow.... This isn't a distro-specific problem...it's Linux-wide apparently but the workaround I've found to work is here. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=205449 Absolute nasty bit of work....Called Acer on it via phone, both San Jose and the Temple Texas regional center... silence. By now one would think this wouldn't be a problem. But hey...at least the USB 3 infrastructure is in place. h |
