Quoting:Both the Beck-Tews and Ohigashi-Morii attacks work on only the TKIP algorithm. They do not work on newer WPA2 devices or on WPA systems that use the much stronger Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm, which is a triple key encryption method. I've been using WPA2 for quite some time and recommending it to anyone who wants to deploy wireless as the best solution. Are people even still deploying WEP? I would hope that anyone using WEP or the original WPA would move to WPA2. On any router sold in the last two or three years it should be easy to switch, |

I suspect Andy would appreciate it if you stopped diminishing the value of the sensationalist headline with reality. |

> Are people even still deploying WEP? As of last year, the wireless routers Verizon was sending out with their business class DSL service were preconfigured with WEP. :( Typos corrected. |

Jdixon And fios home customers as well. I asked if I could use wpa when I got my router and they said they couldn't support such "bleeding edge" software and strongly urged me to use the "supported" wep. When I told them I would be using wpa2 with linux there was silence at the end of the line. BTW their standard actiontec router easily supports wpa2. Amusingly enough Vista does not on my laptop. |

Quoting:As of last year, te wireless routers Verizon is sending out with their business class DSL service were preconfigured with WEP. :( I guess that's a good reason not to use Verizon. |

Quoting: .... business class DSL service were preconfigured with WEP. :(True, but when offers from Comcast tout Microsoft Enterprise business solutions I wish I had another, better choice. |

Yes verizon fios may have hopeless support but the actual service is top notch. I am getting 35Mbps down 25Mbps up for around $50 a month and the speeds are rock solid. Beats the cable company easily. |

Fiber might be good enough to dismiss the stupidity, however, when it's just asymmetric dsl at whatever price it just grates. This is true despite all the generous checks I receive from MS for my hard work on this site as the resident shill / astroturfer. YBT |
