I shifted from CentOS to Scientific Linux for two reasons: 1. SL has been consistently faster with security updates. What Mr. Corbet's article did not cover was the very long (2-3 month) delays that happened earlier this year. The numbers in his article are better and I hope CentOS is well on its way to resolving the issue. 2. SL is developed through the auspices of major research labs and universities. It is not a volunteer project. I think that makes it a bit easier for me to sell and gives business owners (and me) a bit more of a sense of security after what happened with CentOS in recent weeks. Issue #1 is the more important of the two. So far I am satisfied with SL. I certainly wish the CentOS people all the success in the world. I also have great respect for Dag Wieers. Without his packaging efforts RHEL/CentOS/SL would require more work on my part :) |

> Issue #1 is the more important of the two. Absolutely. And a valid reason for switching in and of itself. |
