It will be eighteen years ago, later this month, that Linus first announced his new kernel. http://www.linux.org/people/linus_post.html An example of why I hardly ever read the Beeb site. |

On a more humorous note, I just realized: This year's college freshman class are the last to be born before Linux. Next year's class, by and large, were born after Linux was made public. |

I have lots of reasons to distrust the BBC but I won't discuss most of them here. Interesting point about the college class. I wonder how many of them have no clue what DOS is. I wonder how many of them don't know what a vinyl record album is. Time and technology march on and the old stuff gets ignored or forgotten. |

I'm old enough that when I hear people talking about using Linux "way back" in college, or even having their own PC makes me feel even older. |

Vinyls are hip now. A better measure would be a magnetic casette... |

@jezuch Or maybe an 8-track... |

Whatever one's opinion of the BBC, I thought it was an interesting interview. It's not every day that I'm driving around and get to listen to a lengthy discussion of Linux on the radio. |
