That you can't close the last tab on FF3.5 without also closing the browser window. FF 3.5 now functions the same as IE and Safari, they've taken away the ability to close, or clear, the last tab and have a blank page, like you can in FF 3.0.x. This is a backward step, or maybe a bug, ti certainly appears like a bug to me,as I can no longer close the last tab without the browser window also closing. It's annoying and frustrating.

I've been though every tab addon I can find, and none of them, it seems will override this stupid useless thing they've done.

Has always been the case for FF for me, as long as I use it (since Phoenix I believe).

I always use Ctrl+W to close tabs, and when I press Ctrl+W on the last tab, it's the same as Ctrl+Q.

I also found it frustrating after using Opera for years, but you get used to it.

And I've found out how to turn this off, so that closing the last Tab doesn't also close the Window.

in the Address bar Type "about:config"

then in the Filter bar type "browser.tabs"

then double click on "browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab" to change it from true to false.

However to easily close the remaining tab you still need to install an add on. I installed "close tab with doubleclick"

@tracyanne: You don't need an addon for that. There is a setting to always show the tab bar, even when there is only one tab. Also, Ctrl+F4 closes the current tab.

I don't want to have to remember key sequencences. mouse double click does it for me, not as nice as being able to single click a close button, like on 3.0.x, but it will do.

I'm also probably the only person who initiates the 3D desktop with a single mouse click... no holding down keys.

I have the setting to always show tab bar set. What I wanted was to be able to close the last tab, with that tab still showing, but no page loaded.. to clear the last tab. I now have that, which means I have the same functionality as i had/have (im still using it on some machines) in 3.0.x

I can close tabs with the middle click, though on the laptop that is click both buttons at the same time. I also found the close last tab closes FF in 3.5 annoying, fortunately the fix wasn't hard to implement once I found it.

But what is the point of closing FF when I close the tab, that is just dumb. If I want to quit FF I will quit FF, jeesh.

I noticed that too. I fixed it with the option in Tab Mix Plus (which probably just sets that internal settting). hehe.

I only use Firefox because I am forced to, and it that regard I only hold it in slightly higher esteem than IE.

Unfortunately my beloved Opera remains closed and they still don't play nice in the sandbox. Opening it up is my only salvation...so long as the Mozilla folks keep their "Microsoft" notions out of it.
