Now, I'm all for netbooks, having owned two Asus models, and currently running a 1000HA. I was very impressed when they made the effort initially to base their models on linux, although I found the default OS rather limited. It only took me moments to install straight Debian on both after I bought them. I am also very dissipointed in Asus's current move away from Linux alltogether, but if they equate Linux to that Xandros garbage, I can't blame them.

So, I'm all for linux targeted machines as well, but dang! This guy is expensive! With specs identical to my 1000HA (currently retails for 350, with the windows tax) they expect a base price of 500? on "sale" for 400, and a total of $175 for WindowsXP Home if you want to dual boot? So, for an indential machine to the one I bought, including the unused XP, I would be looking at a 60% markup?

I'm all for supporting the cause, but if I'm not willing to be fleesed for Windows, what make anyone think I would for Linux?

I'm not sure about the base price but I think the dual-boot cost is reasonable considering the work needed to install XP+drivers+updates.

jhansonxi, only if they are morons and do them one off.

That being said, the 'article' being nothing more than a link to a sales page really doesnt belong in the news feed.
