The problem with quoting a bunch of comments, particularly Slashdot comments, and turning them into an article us that a lot of the people who write the comments have no clue what they are talking about.

For example, Linux isn't a "recompile away" from running on ARM. First, porting to different architecture isn't quite that simple. Second, quite a number of Linux distros already have working ARM ports. The work has already been done.

There are MIPS based laptops already on the market with price points as low as $139. ARM is what the tech press and bloggers are all on about but there will be competition from other directions as well.

98% of mobile phones run ARM (other 2% mostly 'failed' Intel attempts I believe); and given Android/QT Extended/Maemo is mainly about mobile phones and Moblin was not designed to run on anything beyond x86 in the beginning ... I guess that's why. Not everybody is as up to date as you are I guess.

ED: The fact that we here on LXer had this whole discussion more than a month ago says enough I think; beyond Ms. Noyes not mentioning OMAP at all.
