Yet everyone I've shown it to likes it, and so do I. I don't feel like I'm being treated like an idiot.

I hate it too... I'm with Hartley on this one.

Running tabbed fullscreen windows is no different than just having a regular desktop with maximised applications and task switching using the task bar, as opposed to tabs.

A regular Gnome / KDE / xfce / lxde is perfectly fine.

Even Moblin opens windows properly.

I've just been testing the standard ubuntu desktop on my netbook and for many windows it' way too small it just works better with the Easy Desktop feels a lot better.

@jacog:

"Switch Desktop Mode" under "Preferences" lets you choose between the traditional Gnome desktop and the UNR tabbed desktop.

As for MH's article, after getting what he perceives to be a totally defective desktop, he should have re-installed with as many default settings as possible, to see if the defects were duplicated. My gambling money says it would have been better for him.

In any case, he shouldn't have written an article based on what he saw as an obviously defective installation, without further research. With this kind of FUD, who needs enemies?

It's Hartley. What did you expect?

My default policy is not to read anything by Hartley, no matter how enticing it may sound.

I generally avoid MH as well, but being a new UNR user, I wanted to see how much better informed I was on it. Alas, I was not surprised.
