I read the description of grml on DistroWatch and I am going to have to check it out. It's based on Debian and developers claim it is designed for sys admins and those who use the command line. Custom CLI tools and scripts? I'll have to check out what they've done and see if it really is worthwhile or innovative.

I have no idea how the developers pronounce it or what's correct. I've been saying "germal" with the g sounding like a j. I realize that makes the distro sound like it's carrying diseases around or something but it's what came into my mind when I looked at the name.

Whereas my instinctive pronunciation would be grimmel, with a hard g. :)

grimmel sounds like a small animal with sharp teeth.

Well, isn't that appropriate for a CLI oriented system?

From the FAQ:

What does grml mean?

grml is short for 'grummel' and comes close to 'argl' or 'grrr' in English. People use this when they want to express their dissatisfaction/discontentedness with software (amongst other things):

$ grep -ch grml .centericq/**/history | xargs echo | sed 's/[0-9]*/& + /g' | sed 's/+ $//g' | bc -l 3746

How do you pronounce grml?

% flite -o play -t gremel

And from Wikipedia: grml (pronounced /??r?m?l/)
