If Linux has been "crushed" and "kicked to the curb" and has almost no more customers on netbooks as some tech "journalists" would have us believe why do companies keep coming out with new Linux offerings? I mean, if there is no customer demand why would they bother? |

Question: How do you get new software on a Windows netbook that has no optical drive? |

Direct downloads, USB keys, etc... |

With an SMB volume for files that are really big, so that when the system unpacks them, you don't run out of space and end up with a brick. |

Windows + anti-virus software + anti-spyware software + personal firewall + bloated Windows apps on a netbook runs pretty much like a brick anyway. I've played with Windows on a netbook and found it to be sluggish. The same system with Linux just flies. |

Quoting:Question: How do you get new software on a Windows netbook that has no optical drive? Probably done using three simple steps: -Insert Linux LiveUSB, -Install Linux, -Start synaptic, yum or whatever. |
