Nope. Page 2 tells about the not-so-good bits.

As I've pointed out to my boss, there is no protection for a laptop, once it's in the hands of the thief. That would have to apply to fancy run time applications, unless the thief was really stupid... though some would say to be a thief you have to be pretty stupid.

When Adeona works reliably, it could be a good free-of-cost FOSS recovery tool against dumb thieves, which are the majority. As several folks have pointed out, an embedded GPS tracker would be a lot better, but we don't have those yet and they would add some cost.

I was discussing this a little while ago with a friend at school, he would just randomly leave is laptop laying around, while he would go to the vending machine, etc. I asked him about it, and he said he's not to worried because his laptop is lo-jacked. I asked would it still work if the thief didn't boot into his windows install, and he said he thought it did, the sales person who sold him on the software told him that his laptop's info, serial number, etc. are registered into a database and after he reports it stolen, the can track the serial number and stuff because that is broadcast with every packet that is sent from the computer when connected to the net.

I'm not sure if I buy that though, if computer serial numbers were broadcast with the packets, would the MAFIAA be using that info in suing their customers?

I think the only real solution is to have an additional component inside - a GSM or 3G mini device that functions independently of the rest of the hardware or software, and yes, one that can also send GPS locations.

Although, if it's a separate device, it can be removed. Might be better if it's inseperable from the rest of the hardware. This causes some abuse of privacy type concerns though. I would not want the FBI, NSA, CIA, FCC, KFC and all those other folks who are certainly after me right now to be able to hack my hardware and hunt me down.
