The latest dell re-master cd of Ubuntu is available at the dell linux support wiki and is based on 8.10:

They have an 8.10 launchpad repository that is empty. http://ppa.launchpad.net/dell-team/ubuntu/dists/ I suppose they would use this if there was a critical piece of software needed for their hardware that would not be accepted into ubuntu regular. I note there is a launchpad repository for Jaunty, although it is not yet released. I would guess that there would be a Dell restore DVD based on 9.04 Jaunty some time after 9.04 ships (Dell is not too quick with this) |
