I tried approx today for my virtual server park but removed it again after an hour of trying to make it work. Approx itself seemed to work fine. No errors in any of the logs or anything, but the other severs trying to get their updates through approx got a lot of 404 errors instead of package lists. It wasn't a configuration error because other package lists from the same repository could be fetched without error. Also, the lists and indexes that gave 404 errors did exist in the approx cache. Also, approx_update kept complaining about bus errors and gave up after checking just two package indexes. I saw some bugs in BTS about approx not liking it's cache on a different partition which is the case on my servers. Too bad. It could have been nice. |
