Quoting:You've probably heard of the example of walking past the grocery story and your mobile phone buzzes and reminds you need milk. This notion, Lipmman made fun of as so 1990s. With the third cloud, he explained, it will do that and communicate with your wife's phone and let you know you also need eggs and bread and it will sync with your friend's calender and remind you of the dinner party tonight and that you need tomatoes and mozzarella for the the tomato salad you promised to make. Oh and who's going to tell the phone it needs to do this? It won't happen by magic. And If I loose my privacy so I can have my phone bug me, thenit's the first thing that gets turned off. |

If Windows is Life without walls, how come I run into so many. |

They aren't walls, they're people. They only think they're walls when you're talking to them. |

Quoting:Oh and who's going to tell the phone it needs to do this? I guess the producers will implement all this and I will get reminded about milk I don't drink, about changing oil in a car I don't have etc. I suppose my decision not to own a mobile phone will turn out to be very wise one day ;) [Unfortunately at the moment I'm stuck with two: one from my family and one from my employer. Yay.] |

Quoting:And If I loose my privacy so I can have my phone bug me, then it's the first thing that gets turned off.Pretty soon it will be illegal to turn it off...it will become a device of the State much like an ankle bracelet for criminals...to track and monitor its citizenry. |

The way around that would be promoting community-run open wifi networks. Then you can simply take your wifi-enabled phone and call through VoiP. No GSM network required! |
