Actually, the biggest problem linux has is microsoft. The monopolist throws its weight around and uses its massive cash reserves to bankroll all sorts of nasty obstacles to the widespread adoption of linux. But other than the monopolist, I can't think of any real problem for linux. |

The desktop is Microsoft's bastion, and it will be the last the fall. That's why the 30% adoption rate in netbooks terrifies them so much. From what I've seen in the past, a mature healthy industry will have 2-5 major suppliers with markets ranging in the 10-60 percent range. That's the way the OS market is headed and, in the long run, there's nothing Microsoft can do to prevent it. |

I agree with jdixon in the long run. This is another IT Wire article, folks. The Windows has "kicked Linux to the curb" folks. The Windows has "crushed" Linux folks. Granted, David Williams is head and shoulders better than Stan Beer and some of the others on this site. Still, IT Wire doesn't like Linux and always looks for an opportunity to find a reason to say something is wrong with Linux when it isn't. |
