When you give people 5 choices + other, then of course your going to end up with a list that is 5 selections long ... duh.

Well, I wouldn't run anything but Shoo Linux on the Smart Phone.

But I wouldn't run it anywhere else.

Yes, and also Why are there ABSOLUTELY NO distros based upon Slackware mentioned in Jason Fitzpatrick's list here ?? And Why does Fitzpatrick avoid ANY mention of outside distro-reviews such as Caitlyn Martin's more comprehensive 'Linux Performance: Different Distributions, Very Different Results' found at http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/116949/index.html , even taking into account that Fitzpatrick's piece is solely a poll ?? hmm ??

No Slackware, no Slackware derivatives, no PCLinuxOS, no Mepis, no Mandriva. At least he lists Arch and Gentoo.

Maybe Slack ain't one of the 5 best...at least for the masses. Maybe it's too good for an article like this.

Entirely possible. But that still doesn't explain Mepis, Mandriva, or PCLinuxOS, all of which are aimed squarely at their market segment.

Grumpies! It's a reader popularity contest, with the five in the poll being the most popular with Hive Five readers. Now they're voting for #1.

Atleast he kept the families aggregated on this one, seeing half a million *buntu's and the token 'other' is always a little annoying. Keeping the debian tree together was a nice touch.

I think DistroWatch is a more accurate list. You really can't argue with it in objective terms (but I'm sure you'll try).

Because! Otherwise, LXer would have too many truncated forum threads.

That could only happen if Microsoft weren't mentioned...
