So why don't the companies work on coreboot?

They like Linux and how it improves their product, so why not jump in with both feet and work on coreboot? Coreboot has been able to boot into linux in a few seconds for quite some time now, and boot windows if you really wanted to, all they really need is some help from hardware makers to get more products supported.

Why not skip the middleman and save everybody time, money, and pain.
