ooh "Financial Mail" whatever that means.

Quoting:Next to Windows 7 and Apple’s Mac OS X, Ubuntu and other Linuxes are looking old fashioned. Other than some nifty 3D effects, Ubuntu has not had a significant refresh of its graphical user interface since it was launched more than four years ago.

^right next to the quite nice and fancy Ubuntu screenshot. And since when has Microsoft had a "significant refresh of it's graphical user interface"? Since they are ignoring 3d effects (which is the big change with Vista), the only "significant refresh" I can think of for Windows would be the Win31 to Win95 change. Everything else has essentially just been some minor coloring and eye-candy changes.

No you don't. It's Faribanks Morris, produced a very successful diesel opposed piston engines for U.S. submarines. Then it tried its hand at diesel locomotives and went bankrupt.

That's my business plan, open a bank pay myself a ridiculous salary, buy crap securities and run it into the ground while giving out other people's cash to my favorite political types. When the disaster is obvious to one and all I will fully expect to be redeemed with working stiffs payroll taxes so I can return to the lifestyle I have accustomed myself to enjoy. Once refinanced I will go on a junket with a few hundred of my closest friends and decide which to employ as my lobbyists to keep the cash flowing in ...

Please, note I have filed for patents on business methods and trade marked everything. If that does not dissuade the less ethical amongst my readership I advice you to consider I keep a stable of hit-[men/women] on call. Mess with my game at risk of your life and limb. Just a friendly warning.

P.S What was that article about? I bet this short riff had more content and supported logical reasoning than the aforesaid nonsense.

FM motors were used in PT Boats also. My father worked there in 1950.

Your business plan is great. I do have some securities at bargain prices but you will have to move quick.

BTW, six of the words you just used are my IP. Talk to the lawyer.

The article was how to keyboard faster than you think.

I afraid Citibank has prior art on most of those patents, but if you really want to go toe to toe with them, be my guest.

I lost those fingers, while fighting a war to make democracy safe for the world. You could get in trouble with the VFW for your unkind remarks.

What I'm wondering is if there is money in the stimulus plan to bail out sites that exist just for the sake of getting clicks.

CP,

It's odd I have to ask [are you serious? Everyone knows my implicit speech tags are jester, sarcasm, ridiculous (and equivalent) so most people know my tone. But rest assured all I meant was: everything you own is mine. Because why? Just Because, I am entitled. Bet that was not part of your plan.]

[serious] Got to run, wrote a footnote that was misdirected, meant to apply to the story associated with this thread, but ended up seeming to attack Wine. Need to add a correction to my mini rant.] [/serious]

These stories demonstrate that Windows is measured against Linux, not the other way around.

heh, good point TA-- that dinky lil .83% market share sure packs a big wallop.

.83%?

I have this overwhelming urge to not believe that statistic..oh wait, its because I don't.

If Linux's market share is only .83%, then Phoenix never gets above 100°F in the summertime..

Riiiiiight.

I say add at least 2.0% to that easy, but I'm an optimist.

I treat all posts on LXer with the /sarcasm argument, unless they are by Saint Scott or one of his acolytes.

Hey, Scott, Linux has a 100% market share in this house! Keep the humor in Linux.
