LWN should try EekBoek (http://www.eekboek.nl). As opposed to the bulk of FOSS accounting packages, this one does come with up-to-date tax forms. There are a few downsides though:

- It's aimed at the European market, who do accounting slightly different (which is why GnuCash doesn't really work for us) - There's no complete GUI yet. There's enough of a GUI to retrieve data, but updates must be made through CLI. That said, I can't imagine the LWN staff having trouble with a CLI application. - The website and the documentation are in Dutch, though the application istelf is also available in English :-(

Personally I am using osFinancials now. It's windows-based but fully supported on Wine, is 100% FOSS and also has up-to-date tax forms. The main reason: I really can't make my girlfriend do the accounts through a CLI.

[offtopic] Out of curiosity, what does "EekBoek" mean, if anything? It reminds me of this: http://chetchat.blogspot.com/2006/12/feeling-flemish.html ;) [/offtopic]

I have no idea. "Boek" is "Book" of course. No idea what "Eek" stands for. I don't think it stands for anything.

"Eek a book!"

What your typical student would say these days. :P
