And who's surprised by *that*? |

Who's surprised that they would fix it? |

Hmmm, not fair to criticise someone for fixing a bug. |

>not fair Agreed. Criticize them for NOT fixing bugs, or even for creating something that is pitifully and woefully insecure and/or unsecurable, but not for fixing bugs. BTW -- I don't know that flash falls into either of those categories, especially when you consider that it's been pretty much re-written to more easily keep Windows/Mac/Linux in sync. A recent re-write , however, is always going to have bugs, even if the basic product is conceptually ok. |

How long was that bug there, and known? If they knew about it, and chose not to fix it until enough public uproar reached the media outlets to affect their stock prices, that's a perfectly legitimate criticism. A monster security hole should get fixed with deliberate speed, no matter how few people have been affected. That number can grow out of control in less than 24 hours. |

gus3 - True enough, but, as is the case with proprietary software that has not been exploited "in the wild", we can only speculate. It may well have been patched with all deliberate speed. |

[All Serious Tags Here!] Again and oddly, upon reflection I think dino take on this has the greater validity. At first I was just happy a bug in a driver I was using was "fixed". However, given the rampant crime spree via the internet if the delay was significant my credit card numbers could have been harvested. Therefore, whenever I upgrade hardware when possible I will opt for hardware that has free or open source drivers, because with hidden source flaws are too easily ignored. [revision to default tag identity begins here] Does this I have become a Dino fan? While it was once conceivable now that I learned that the dino I idolized was not the terrible lizard namesake but some near tipsy singer that purportedly spilled more ethanol that more humans could consume and survived blood alcohol levels that would be terminal for all sentient biological constructs that will never be possible. But fret not dino, I am still your buddy Txt. |
