My friends turn back to Windblows as Ubuntu and other distributions slowly crawl in a downspin into slow bloated pieces of sh*. Half of the problem is degeneration of driver quality both closed-source (AMD I blame you!) and open source (hey, why does my cdrom suddenly report errors all the time in Linux but not in FreeBSD or Windows?).

I'm actually a Linux fan, been using it for 7 years now (man I'm getting old) but while it was progressing rapidly in the past years, I can't help feel a stagnation, or even degradation lately. Everything is sluggish (ext3 I blame you! CFS... :() and alternatives on the desktop are ever-more inviting.

They need to get their act together, do proper quality control on kernel releases and stop being feature whores lest they'll end up as Slowaris of old.

So no, we didn't win.

my response too. Given how well my "little Old Ladies" have taken to Mandriva Linux. BTW, someone asked for a short article from one of my "LOLs".. Liz, she agreed and is doing a peice.

I know I'll sound like an @ss here, but pffft. That's what you get form using Ubuntu.

Quite a lot pf people wrongly think that Ubuntu=Linux. It's nuts. Quit pissing your friends off and give them somethig that works before they beat you to a bloody pulp ;)
