Maybe they finally realized that ticking off their user base by attacking people that fix their drivers as well as shutting out the complete Linux user base from their new cards weren't the best ideas....

I read it as after two years of trying they still can't make the thing work, so they're desperate and ready to try anything. Even the evil hippie commie approach.

Lesse...card released '05...64 bit binary driver release '07...source finally released '08.... Yeah...they must be desperate....(maybe the profits aren't looking so good these days?) And it's probably about time for the next gen of cards to be announced...

tc said: "Even the evil hippie commie approach." The words Hippie and commie cannot be used together.

But the Hippie approach does seem to work quite often.

Hippie and Commie certainly don't go together, at least not like that, in the same sentence. One is a top down approach, where the bloke at the top pretends to know what you need/want (sounds a lot like Microsoft), and the other is a bottom up approach where those at the bottom, the users, tell the bloke at the top what they want/need.
