that they are upset about the "leaking" of documentation describing an "open" standard? What's so open about it if you can't read the documentation?

On the flip side, who can read the standard?

Seriously, has anyone at ISO actually read this abomination, end-to-end?

Maybe they have, and that is why they want it hidden.

Even if this were a good standard, I think they would be upset since ISO makes a lot of money selling standards in print.

Which is again at odds with the whole idea of open standards. I understand selling printed copies (after all, ink is expensive and many companies would rather pay for it pre-printed than to do it themselves), but the standard documentation should still be freely available for download under an appropriate license (which apparently it isn't judging by the claims of copyright infringement, etc.).

Agreed - freely available download should be part of the definition of an open standard.
