So, how did Norway vote on MSOXML?

Assuming your question is not rhetorical: Norway voted yes.

It was fairly controversial too, with Standard Norge deciding on a vote that disregarded the majority of the technical members. Some of these members are now resigning:

"Microsoft earlier this year acquired Oslo-based Fast Search & Transfer ASA, calling it a "leading provider" of enterprise search solutions at the time. The acquisition was aimed at bolstering Microsoft’s enterprise search efforts and increasing its research and development presence in Europe."

wonder if ballmer made any threats as to this company - you know - gee sorry we have to move the company to the US and have to lay off all your citizens.

just hope the truth does come out and these backroom business deals stop.

just so sick of microsoft - when will the common joe realize they don't need their software.

makes me physically ill that such wrong can go on - all in the disguise of business. to me this is no different than the common joe getting robbed in the back alley by your two bit thug. but hey we have the WTO which is just a legal mafia for the rest of the world.

this just shows how microsoft is slowly dieing - soon enough corporations will realize what ride they have been taken on and there will be migrations to linux and others will follow. the money will eventually run out especially if they make pieces of junk like vista which is just another windows me.

When they become aware that there is actually something else. There are people trying to market Linux, which is what needs to be done, before the common Joe can realise they don't need Microsoft software. Unfortunately they don't get a lot of help, in fact many of the people who seem to think marketing Linux is somehow anti Linux, or can't be bothered helping, also ask the same question, go figure.

I personally don't think that is the case. I don't think it would carry much leverage - after all, a lot of the value of a company like Fast is in their employees. If they were just after the technology itself, it would probably make more sense to license it from the company.

Both Yahoo and Google have significant research and/or development centres in Norway, so I don't think it's very surprising that Microsoft does something similar.

Microsoft execs know they have a friend in Standard Norge.
