... I wish they weren't so hell-bent on including Lotus anything in there... We use Lotus Notes where I work, and it's truly dismal. Actually, "dismal" is probably not a descriptive enough word to use... but I fear that to describe it accurately, I would need to delve into my cache of expletives.

Anyway, all 'n all I hope it works out - and it might, if they have a good enough hype engine to back it up.

Most large businesses seem to think their only two options are Notes or Exchange. Given a choice between those two, Notes is definitely the better option.

Of course, it's not true that those are the only two options, but good luck convincing the PHB's.

I can see this being somewhat popular with large businesses that ike to use a standard platform across their business. It'll definitely be cheaper per machine that a Microsoft solution.

In my opinion (important distinction, that) most businesses today operate in lemmings mode. Very rarely do you find a business courageous enough to say, "I don't give a flip what everyone else is doing, I'm going to do something different."

Of course, those that do show that courage decide the future course for all the lemmings.

I'm slowly steering my boss in the courageous direction, but there's still a big lemming in there somewhere.

I have had quite a few chats with one of the main IT chaps in the company I work. He is pro Linux and even had our main sales system and Outlook running under WINE. He says that within our IT department there is resistance to changing from Microsoft stuff because they don't want to have to learn a new system. Even if the idiots high up in our company (who have that lack of courageousness and stick with MS because it's what everyone uses) were to suggest Linux they would receive a lot of resistance from the majority of the lazy w*****s in IT.
