I didn't know that it is also available for Windows and OS X. The "tux" part threw me off. We do have it installed in OpenBSD, however. ...

I'll have to try the OS X build.

I installed it on a Windows XP box for my 5 year old son. He really liked it, although he used "Paint" for drawings. When my daughter got to about 3 years old, she really liked TuxPaint, particularly the "stamp pad" feature and the "magic wand".

Of course, this cost me a lot of toner and paper.

phsolide... that's a fine example of how Windows Vista could have saved you money - you would not have been able to get your printer working in it at all. I should work for getthefacts.com

Before I installed Tuxpaint (I have it in Debian Lenny, Ubuntu 8.04, OpenBSD 4.2 ...), I wondered if kids wouldn't be better off with the same paint program that "adults" use, but Tuxpaint is really fun.

Just like you say, the stamp pad, the magic wand, and a whole bunch of cool things for kids makes it a really fun, creative application that works for a wide range of ages.
