Odd, I posted this comment last night and I see this morning that it was deleted - so here goes, posting again...

Anyway, the point was that linux has been reliable for a long time - I had mail servers on a 2.2.17 kernel that were up for 2 years, back in the 2001-2002 time frame. Of course the uptime counter used to wrap around at 497 days back then,obscuring the high uptimes - Nowadays the boxes with 1100 days uptime show 1100 days, instead of wrapping around twice and showing only 106 days uptime...

It's good to see that the mainstream IT pundits have finally caught on!

Try that with an Exchange server. Seriously, try it. It's fun. You get really excited as the page file starts to exceed the available disk space...so excited you almost see green smoke coming out of the box. If only that last part were true.
