Glyn Moody gives an excellent summary of this shameful situation with the ISO standards process and OOXML. Anyone thinking that Microsoft wants to play nice with the open source community (using their latest buzzword - interoperability), should have a serious rethink after reading Mr. Moody's article. Leopards never change their spots.

Indeed.

One should recollect even before carefully reading Moody's piece that Microsoft keeps on being compared to the Borg of Star Trek fame (e.g., MS's role in Mono as commented upon in http://lxer.com/module/forums/t/26997) -------------------------------------- The MS [Cy]Borgs -------------------------------------

Prepare to be Interoperated upon

We will embrace your technological distinctives to our own.

The open source community will adapt to service us.

Resistance is futile.

--------------------------------------

Now "interoperated upon" is the OOXML ISO standard , soon Mono (if not already a fait accompli)

What next ??????????
