I fondly remember July 14th 1998, I had driven up to Santa Clara for a Bastille day conference on the future of linux at the convention center. Unbeknown to most of us, there were representatives from oracle in the standing room only audience. They left that meeting with a message to HQ that resulted in oracle's announcement of Linux support shortly thereafter. Now it's nearly 10 years later, and my ultra conservative employer is finally moving oracle off of hpux and onto linux. We've come a long way baby! |
