I used Android to run a rudimentary "Hello World" app. It was nice and simple. But I would like to know if there is any hardware available on the market which can run Android? |

Yes there is. There were a couple of announcements about that on linuxdevices.com recently. And IIRC someone has gotten Android running on the OpenMoko 1973. |
