The authors comparison of QEMU/KVM missed a big thing that I think may have effected his outcome on his tests. In using a GUI front end to QEMU it is very easy to miss that to get KVM acceleration to work you have to add yourself to the group, as well as loading the proper module against the kernel at boot time,and boot time specifically from my playing with it. If KVM fails to initialize properly QEMU will chug right along in non accelerated mode while KVM happily fails. If you launch from command line you can see KVM die a horrible death,using a GUI ... it will silently fail and you wont know anything about it. http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/545 |

You should contact him with that information. That's probably why Qemu was so slow on his machine. |
